In trying to find Lionel’s emigration from England, I inadvertently stumbled upon his brother’s Royal Navy Seaman’s record. I didn’t even know he was in the Navy!! Just like his eldest brother Charles, he served 12 with the Navy from 2 Jan 1911 (his 18th birthday). Within 2 months of leaving the service, he was married and on his way to Australia. Next steps: trace all the ships’ voyages; did he follow his brother? Or as he went to Sydney not Brisbane, was it an independent choice? Plus, find him in 1911 census. At Naval training school perhaps?
